Therapy FAQs
How do you approach your practice?
I want my clients to feel safe, so they can be seen, heard and felt in a healthy therapeutic environment. Most of us have had to hide, ignore and tuck away our true essence, our vitality, our liveliness, so that we could be loved, tolerated, and accepted by our family members and caregivers.
They didn’t know how to love us for who we are because they were lacking the skills to do it. This is not to blame anyone, but to help take responsibility for what is, and understand the story of your past, so you can heal and thrive!
With help and support, it is possible to change and feel good about yourself. When we feel good about ourselves, we’re empowered. Our outlook on the future is brighter and we feel enlivened—it’s exciting to get out of bed in the morning, and look forward to each day.
How do I know if I should start therapy now?
It may never feel like the “right” time to start therapy. And knowing that, I ask you to think about how your life would be different if you didn’t have this issue that is bothering you?
What if I don’t want to talk about the past?
You don’t have to dredge up your trauma or your past. It’s about exploring the felt sense that currently lives in your body and how it’s affecting you today.
What happens if I become overly dependent on therapy?
Developing a healthy dependency with your therapist can help you work through interpersonal and relational issues and does not necessarily mean you will become overly dependent. In fact, the quality of the therapeutic relationship is indicative of the kind of change and transformation that can occur for you.
